All about Zakynthos

Celtic or Melikoukia is a broad-leaved deciduous tree up to 25m which is found in the areas around the Mediterranean. Thus, it is located in the Ionian Islands. It loves the sun and endures even in poor soils. It has a smooth, gray bark and jagged gray-green leaves. Its fruit is a small 1cm berry that grows in small groups and is edible. The leaves are used for hot drinks. Sources identify it with the lotus of the ancient Greeks and it is also referred to as wild lotus.
