Count Solomos Nikolaos mansion - Saint Mark's Square -
History Zante Town Zante Town

The Solomos family's mansion had a ground floor with galleries, two floors and a mixer.

The building was renovated by Conte Nikolaos Solomos, who in his will notes: ". . the house where I live today is actually three houses joined together. . and which I have reconstructed more than once", and its layout must have been similar to that of other mansions of its time.

"At the entrance was set up the statue of Diogenes, holding the lantern in his hand, and seeking a man. In the front part of the house there were galleries", informs De Viazis.

In the arcade under Solomos' house there was a fountain, which is believed to have been "transformed by an earthquake".
