All about Zakynthos

On the lower side of Solomos Square, the bronze statue "Freedom, deriving from the bones of our ancestors..." On a plaque on the base, the inscription: 'To Zakynthos, tribute to Agni Kyrou in memory of her husband Alexis (1901 - 1969) and Alexandra K. Kyrou (1906 - 1971)'. Alexandra Kyrou, a Red Cross woman, offered great services to Zakynthos during the earthquakes of 1953. The work was created in 1969 and donated in 1974.
