All about Zakynthos

The knight Noukios Siguros emigrated in 1400 to Zakynthos.

His descendants served Venice in various military positions and in 1499 they were rewarded with a fief of barony.

One of the most important descendants of the Siguros family is considered: Marinos Siguros, who participated in the naval battle of Nafpaktos (1571) ] as the captain of the privately owned galley Ioudith.

The most important of all the offspring of the Siguros family, Saint Dionysios, the patron saint of Zakynthos, was born in this very house.
