All about Zakynthos

The mansion of the extinct Valsamos family in Solomou Square was inherited by the Roma family and rented to the National Bank.

It was destroyed by fire around 1930.

The Valsamos family had been living in Zakynthos since 1507 and was honoured with the title of comet in 1754.

Of its members, Spyridon Valsamos was persecuted by the Venetians as a Russophile because he fought with the Orlov brothers and fled to the Peloponnese, while George was in 1812 the consul of the King of the two Sicilies
