Zante Town Zante Town

A temple which once stood at the southern end of the city (Agios Lazaros Street). It was probably built by Anastasios Vassiliou Logothetis, who gave it on 20 December 1620 to the guild of builders ('maestranza of builders'). In the courtyard, there was an icon of St. Fanourios in a shrine. Inside there were portable icons of various eras, 17th century frescoes, remarkable woodcarvings , such as the Epitaph of Spyros Raftopoulos, silver sculptures and a large shrine with an old icon of St. Marina. The church was burnt down in August 1953.
