The church of St. Luke was built in the centre of the city with imposing exterior architecture, beautiful wood and silver carvings and important icons. The carved wooden iconostasis was the work of John Pan. Katavaitis was decorated with icons by the painter Spyridon Dim. Pelekasis. In the sanctuary there were two silver carved discs by Georgios Diamantis Bafas (1817 and 1826). Above the main entrance, on a marble slab with a 1822 inscription stating that the temple was renovated by the Zakynthian people in honor of Jesus Christ. It burned in August 1953.
