All about Zakynthos

The bust of Dionysios Romas, member of the Greek Society "Filiki Etaireia" is the work of the sculptor Georgios Georgiou (1916-2002). It was originally placed in the small garden of Solomos Square and was constructed on the initiative of the prefect Demetrios Sabatakakis and a fundraising committee, which collected money from within and outside Zakynthos.The bust's pedestal bears the name of the person depicted. It is framed on a tall stake and resembles the type of the hermaphrodite columns, without the head being congruent with the stake. The figure is rendered simply, frontally.
