Sculpture South West Zakynthos South West Zakynthos
In the square of the village of Lithakia, at the location "Mesochori", a stone monument has been built, which has an embedded marble slab on which a bronze representation of Liberty has been placed, framed by the figures of two women. All three female figures have their heads covered with headscarves, while at the bottom of the composition there is an effigy of laurel branches. Also on a marble plaque at the front of the monument are the verses from Dionysios Solomos' 'Hymn to Freedom': "Then you lifted your eyes/ blurred from crying ,/ and your clothes were dripping blood. / 'A multitude of Greek blood'.
