All about Zakynthos

In the courtyard of the Centre for Creative Activities of Children in Fialiti, in the square "Giannis Claydianos of Fialiteos", a memorial has been built from local stone. The emblem of peace and the verse of Yannis Ritsos (1903 - 1990) from the poem "Peace" have been carved on the front of the column of the hero: "Shake hands, brothers and sisters, this is peace". At the bottom is a relief of a lit lamp, while the column is crowned by a stone effigy of a flowerpot. The monument was built in 1984, by Nikolaos Xenos - Tzaris, to designs by Nikos Lykouresis, and is similar to the monument, which has been built in the village of Galaro. Apparently the two monuments are works of the same craftsman.
