Monument for Zakynthian origin Jewish residents of Corfu and Chania

In July 2014, at the Jewish cemetery, two marble monuments were unveiled in memory of the Jewish residents of Corfu and Chania, who were originally from Zakynthos and were killed by the Germans during World War II, as well as in memory of the soldier Moses Forte, who was killed on the Albanian front. On the plaque of the first monument, which bears an engraved seven-light lamp, the inscription: "In memory of the Jews born in Zakynthos and their families of victims of Nazi atrocities who resided in Corfu and Chania". Corfu: The families of Ruben Amarsyas I. Gani, Joseph H. Gani, Samuel Gani, Savva G. Dalmedegou, Kanari Konstantinis, Rachel D. Konstantinis, Matathia Nahama E. Konstantinis, Nason Stamatia, Konstantinis Joseph, Levi and Aaron Matsas, Members of the families Lazaros Levi, Samuel Levi, Moses R. Mordos and Raphael R. Mordos. Chania, Crete: The families drowned in the Aegean Sea when the ship carrying them to Nazi camps sank after a bombing raid: Solomon S. Gani, Savvas S. Gani and Isaias Gani'. At the bottom of the monument the inscription: 'The Jews of Zakynthos honour their memory'.
