All about Zakynthos

The northern cemetery of the city is the Cemetery of Agia Paraskevi of Clapsi. It was founded under the mayorate of Fragkiskos Tzoulatis (1870-1873), who carried out important works on the island (the Theatre, road widening, etc.). In the cemetery is the tomb of Andreas Ioannou (1918-1972), who, while still on the island, had commissioned the sculptress Irini Pramantioti-Hariati to decorate it. The tomb is made of gerakopetra stone of Zakynthos and is decorated on the vertical side of its western wall with a free composition made of bronze bars worked by fire. At the same time, the sculptor also made the holder of a candle, which is placed on the tomb, from the same metal.
