Mantolato is a dessert brought to Zakynthos by the Venetians and takes its name from its basic ingredient, the "almond", which in Italian is called "mandola". It contains almonds, honey, egg white and a small amount of sugar. It was offered at engagements, weddings, christenings and during the carnival season.
